Belt drives - types, application and selection

Main parameters of belt drives operate on the principle of trieneto.Sastoyat of wheels - pulleys, which are covered by a flexible element - strap. Torque is transmitted by frictional forces. Washers have parallel axes, but may be oriented differently in space. The gear ratio is equal to the ratio of the diameters of the driving and driven pulley state. Belt drives are used primarily for:                                                                                        -drive engines with electric motors with small and medium power
-drive electric generators in air conditioning systems of vehicles, agricultural and other machinery. Classification of pinion gears can be done in different signs

A) According to the belt: Belts are 5 types:
1) flat - used to transmit motion from motor mainly led to several job mash
2) Wedge - large load-carrying capacity, the size of the flat;
3) Round - used to transfer loads of small appliances, household appliances and more.
4) twin V-belt - one disc with the thong can get some movement washers, some of which rotate in opposite direction
5) the polyclin belt - flat and wedge. Have increased grip washers, can work with small washers
B) Under the direction of rotation of the gear shaft - in uniform - open gear in the opposite - cross.
C) the number of driven shafts - one or more shafts.

Belt drive has many advantages over the teeth:

- Allows for the transmission of considerable axial distances between up to 15m.
- A smooth and silent operation - safety unit in the power chain - simple design and so easy to operate.
Disadvantages of the belt drive are:
- Has little bearing capacity => higher dimensions;-volatile ratio
- A small belt durability (1000 ... 5000 hours) - produces 2-3 times more load / in shafts and bearings. Are widely used as power trains for small capacities up to 50kW
Modes of operation of the belt drive:
- Load transmitting torque T1 = 0;
- T1 ≠ 0 in the tensile stress in the two arms of the belt are not equal.                                                                    
Criteria for performance of belts and belt drives - bearing capacity or strength of adhesion of the belt with the puck, which is determined by the force of friction between them. If insufficient carrying capacity can lead to spinning
-durability of the belt. In normal conditions is restricted to wear thong fatigue.
